Triple Long Hood Forward Norfolk Southern Locomotives Pull Massive Train!
Let's chase the Norfolk Southern K64 with not one, not two, but three long hood forward locomotives! Seeing long hood on K64 is a common occurrence but it's rare to see three of them! Not only three LHF locomotives, but also a Dash 9-44CW leading the 160+ car train south to Clayton! There are only less than 100 of these engines left on the Norfolk Southern roster at the time of writing this video. The goal per source is to have the remaining Dash 9's rebuilt into AC4C6M's by the end of 2026. Not only we caught and chased K64, we also got a few shots of Delmarva Central Railroad HA-1 with four engines taking the massive train to Dover and beyond. We abandoned our chase after Wyoming due to bad weather approaching. Power: For K64: Norfolk Southern Dash 9-44CW #9907 Norfolk Southern SD70ACe #1222 Norfolk Southern AC44C6M #4810 For HA-1: Delmarva Central Railroad SD40-3 (SD40-2) #3502 Delmarva Central Railroad SD40-3 (SD40-2) #3505 Delmarva Central Railroad MP15 #1560 Delmarva Central Railroad MP15 #1562 0:40 - Christiana Ave - Wilmington: K64 departs Edgemoor yard. The train is so long it almost stretches to the crossing. Wet rails and a heavy made it difficult to start the train, as some slight wheel slippage not seen happened. 3:15 - Daniel Ln - New Castle: We really have not filmed in the neighborhood but its ironic that a railroad track splits the neighborhood in half with only one crossing. 5:15 - Wilmington Rd - Rogers Manor (New Castle) 6:37 - Tasker: We left the camera rolling seeing the massive train passing over Washington St entering Tasker siding. 16:36 - Marl Pit Rd - Middletown (Mt. Pleasant): A new location not seen on Delmarva Rail Productions. The Route 301 overpass is seen in the background, and ties have been replaced. 17:49 - Middletown: No tripod here! Had to run and gun as the train was right on our heels! 18:18 - Vandyke Greenspring Rd - Clayton: Delmarva Central Railroad HA-1 and K64 at the interchange. 24:25 - Clayton 25:33 - Dover 26:30 - Jello Yard - Dover: Delmarva Central Railroad HA-1 works Jello Yard shoving boxcars for the DO-1 to take to Delmarva Corrugated Packing. 29:30 - Wyoming: HA-1 leaves Jello and screams through downtown Wyoming! We left after due to bad weather aproaching.
